BSA Troop # 441

About Us

We at Troop 441 are glad you are considering joining our extended Scouting family. We have prepared this section to give you an idea of who we are and what we do. We in Troop 441 try our best to adhere to the highest standards and ideals of Scouting. Our Chartering Organization is Knights of Columbus from Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Parish Church  in West Miramar.

The troop is "boy-led", meaning the Scouts make most of the decisions and troop plans under the watchful eye of the Scoutmaster. We have strong parental involvement in our Troop Committee, which meets monthly during the regular Boy Scout meetings. We meet at Glades Middle School. The Senior Patrol Leader will assign the new Scout to a patrol (under the advisement of a Scoutmaster) as soon as he joins our troop. The new Scout's parents/sponsors are encouraged to join our Troop Committee as functioning and productive members. We are well funded and well organized and look forward to your active involvement.

We camp or attend a different outdoor activity several times a year, rain or shine, year-round, embracing both "close-in" camping and backpack camping. There is a flat fee for each camping event that includes campsite fees and food. Sometimes the fees and food cost the troop more and sometimes less. We have a well-stocked troop trailer and attend many South Florida Council and Panther District functions during the year, as well as annual summer camp. The troop conducts three to four Court of Honor award ceremonies each year to recognize each Scout's achievements in a timely manner. Our past activities include camping throughout Florida, and annual summer camps throughout the Southeast United States.

We see our role as providing guidance and structure in such a way as to prepare our Scouts "to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law", which will allow the boys to develop into young men we will all be proud of.
